1.The Grand Canyon
The Grand Canyon is a massive gorge located in the state of Arizona in the United States and was created by the Colorado River. Although not the steepest nor the longest canyon in the world, the Grand Canyon is recognized as a natural wonder because of the overall scale and size combined with the beautifully colored landscape. The canyon is 277 miles (446 km) long.
2.Red Sea Reef
The Red Sea Reef stretches over 1,240 miles along the coast of Egypt, Sudan, and Eritrea. There are more than 1,100 species of fish that call this Red Sea Reef home and nearly 10% of these are exclusive to this region. The reef features include abundant aquatic life, platforms, lagoons, and cylinders.The best way to see and experience the Red Sea Reef is through snorkeling and diving adventures.
3.Niagara Falls
Niagara Falls is an incredible waterfall system located on the border between Ontario, Canada and New York, USA. Niagara Falls is comprised of three distinctive falls including Horseshoe Falls on the Canadian side and American Falls and Bridal Veil Falls on the American side.
4.Mount Etna
Mount Etna is located on the island of Sicily. Sicily is located at the toe of the boot, which looking at a map of Italy. Statistically speaking, it is the tallest active volcano across the entire continent of Europe. There are a number of ways to see and experience Mount Etna. It is one of the island’s main attractions with thousands of travelers exploring the volcano every year. The most popular experience is driving the road that takes visitors to the Sapienza Refuge ski area. This provides a number of views of the mountain.
5.Son Doong Cave
Son Doong Cave is the largest cave in the world. With measurements of over 200 meters (656 feet) wide and 150 meters (492 feet) high as well as a length of 9 kilometers (5.6 miles) makes this cave nothing short of massive.Son Doong Cave is located in Son Trach, Bo Trach District, Quang Binh province, Vietnam in Southeast Asia. Only recently in the year 2013 was the cave opened to the public. Now, there are very few different tours available for those who want to explore this natural wonder of the world.
6.Pamukkale
Pamukkale, meaning “cotton castle” in Turkish, is a natural site in Denizli Province in southwestern Turkey. The city contains hot springs and travertines, terraces of carbonate minerals left by the flowing water. Pamukkale’s terraces are made of travertine, a sedimentary rock deposited by water from the hot springs. In this area, there are 17 hot water springs in which the temperature ranges from 35 °C (95 °F) to 100 °C (212 °F).
7. Dolomites
The Dolomites are one of the most beautiful collection of mountains in all of Europe. The mountain range in northeastern Italy is part of the Southern Limestone Alps. A national park along with other regional parks protect the Dolomites, which have been established as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The dolomite rock is a type of carbonate rock, which is what causes the unique characteristics of the mountains. The unique shape and color attributed to the mountain range and led them to historically be known as the “pale mountains.”
8.Plitvice Falls
Plitvice Falls is located within Plitvice Lakes National Park in Karlovac County of the Southeast European country of Croatia. The Plitvice Falls are what connect a series of 16 lakes. These waterfalls have created crystal clear waters that make up all 16 of the lakes.
9.Mont Blanc
Mont Blanc is a mountain located in the Alps. It is found in the Graian Alps falling between Aosta Valley, Italy and Haute-Savoie, France. Statistically speaking, it is the tallest mountain in Europe that falls outside the Caucasus range. The mountain reaches a summit of 15,781 feet (4,810 m). From a topographical prominence perspective, it ranks eleventh in the world. The most intimate encounter with this wonder of nature involves a challenging trek or climb to the summit. However, it is not recommended for the typical visitor. There are approximately 100 fatalities annually, so attempting the climb requires education and evaluation of your climbing experience.
10.Yellowstone National Park
The park is primarily located primarily in the state of Wyoming in northern United States. Yellowstone National Park became the first national park in 1872 when congress set the park boundaries aside as a wonder of nature. The geothermal features, waterfalls, varying ecosystems, and wildlife combine to create a phenomenal encounter with nature.
